On the heels of clinching a “victory” on season 12 of “The Bachelorette,” Jordan Rodgers announced today he will join ESPN’s SEC Network as a “studio analyst” — confirming all of our suspicions that he was using his onscreen romance as a screen test!
For months, the word among “Bachelorette” fans and the collective Internet was that Jordan was a total phony who joined the show for the fame and attention, and that he wasn’t all that interested in developing a real romance with Bachelorette JoJo Fletcher.
Jordan doesn’t seem to be the most straightforward guy in the world. After he told JoJo that his last relationship ended because he was too busy playing football, his ex-girlfriend ratted him out as a lying cheater.
Later on in the season, he threw his older and more famous brother under the bus, saying the reason they were estranged was because the Green Bay Packers quarterback had abandoned the family. He later tried to walk back the statement back by pretending he didn’t understand the show would milk his family’s drama.
If their body language is any indication, it doesn’t seem like the two are all that happy together, and Reality Steve has been saying for weeks the two have probably broken up already, but are trying to fake it while doing their obligatory post-season publicity tour.
Meanwhile, his more significantly more famous and talented older brother just doesn’t care to participate in his brother’s onscreen drama.
“I haven’t seen the show, to be honest with you, so it hasn’t really affected me a whole lot,” Aaron told a Wisconsin-based news outlet.
Let’s not forget that the bachelorette herself has some history of trying to follow an older brother’s attempt at fame. Jojo’s brother, Ben Patton, was the first in their family to try finding love on reality TV when he was the star of Eva Longoria’s dating show, “Ready for Love.” Spoiler alert: the show was so bad that it was cancelled after two episodes.
Just as Rodgers used “The Bachelorette” as his own stepping stone, it’s hard not to wonder if Jojo picked him as the next step in fulfilling her dream of pseudocelebrity.
