Watch Obama Compare Obamacare To A Flaming Pile Of Garbage

In a speech intended to explain why Obamacare isn’t a huge disaster, President Obama compared his signature health-care law to a Samsung Galaxy Note 7 — which have a tendency to literally catch on fire.

“When one of these companies comes out with a new smartphone and it has a few bugs, what do they do?” Obama said. “They fix it. They upgrade it. Unless it catches fire. . . then they pull it off the market.”

His comment about the smartphones with a tendency to catch on fire is presumably a reference to the Samsung Galaxy Note 7, which have spontaneously burst into flames. One has even been the cause of a massive house fire.

“But you don’t go back to using a rotary phone,” he continued. “You don’t say ‘Well, we’re repealing smartphones, we’re just gonna do the dial-up thing.’ That’s not what you do, and the same basic principle applies here. ”

This isn’t the first painfully ironic tech metaphor the president has made about his signature health-care law. In 2013, he compared the glitchy Healthcare.gov site to the iPhone’s iOS 7.

“Like every new law, every new product rollout, there are going to be some glitches in the sign-up process along the way that we will fix,” Obama said, according to The Verge. “Consider that just a couple of weeks ago, Apple rolled out a new mobile operating system, and within days, they found a glitch, so they fixed it.”

Yikes. Whoever wrote that joke into Obama’s speech should be fired immediately.
