President Joe Biden is facing yet another round of plummeting poll numbers indicating that Americans, including Democrats, are less than happy with his performance (or lack thereof) in office.

Just nine months into the president’s tenure in the White House, polls suggest a majority of the American public disapproves of Biden and his track record thus far. These rising disapproval numbers come as Biden and Democrats are still struggling to pass the infrastructure and reconciliation legislation packages through a Democrat-controlled Congress.

An NBC News poll released over the weekend found that 54 percent of Americans disapprove of Biden’s performance as the 2022 midterms loom. Similar polling puts Biden at 51 and 52 percent disapproval.

Of those surveyed by NBC, 71 percent said they “believe the country is headed in the wrong direction.” A whopping 70 percent of those were independents while even 48 percent of Democrats admitted they don’t see a positive future for the nation as it stands now.

Biden campaigned on his ability to combat COVID-19, but the same NBC poll showed that the top issues facing the United States and Americans today are largely perceived as being addressed better by Republicans, who are working hard to win back at least one chamber of Congress next year.

“When asked which party better handles particular issues, Republicans hold double-digit advantages on border security (by 27 points), inflation (24 points), crime (22 points), national security (21 points), the economy (18 points) and being effective and getting things done (13 points),” NBC noted.

Biden told reporters over the weekend, “I didn’t run to determine how well I’m going to do in the polls,” but even his attempts to convince left-leaning voters that he should be the face of the Democrat Party in 2024 are failing.

A new poll from NPR, PBS NewsHour, and Marist suggests that only 36 percent of Democrats and “Democratic leaning independents” think Biden would be their best shot at winning the White House again. At least 44 percent said they were interested in having someone other than “Sleepy Joe” lead the ticket, while 20 percent were unsure.
